The Council

'The Council’ can mean the organisation as a whole. However, here it refers to the "full Council", which is a formal meeting of all sixty Waltham Forest councillors.

You can find out more about when it meets, and read copies of agendas and minutes online. The meetings, which are open to the public to attend, make major decisions such as deciding the council tax, and agreeing budget and policy framework documents.

Annual meeting of the Council

Each May there is a special meeting of the Council known as the Annual Council Meeting. At this meeting, committees are appointed, and the Mayor is elected.

State of the Borough Debate

There is also a State of the Borough debate on a particular theme each year. Details of the debates are available online.
