Q)I would like to vote in an election - what should I do?
You must make sure that your name is included on the electoral register. You can download an application form or contact the Electoral Services Office.

Q)When will I receive my polling card?
Your polling card will be hand delivered to your address approximately one month before the election.
Q)Can I vote without a polling card?
Yes as long as your name is on the electoral register.
Q)How will I know who the candidates are?
There will be a list of candidates on this website and on the noticeboard outside the Town Hall. Details of candidates and their agents will also be displayed in the polling station.
Q)Can I go to any polling station to vote?
You can only vote at your allocated polling station. You will find details of this on your polling card.
Q)What if I cannot attend the polling station?
You can vote by post but you must complete a postal vote application form which must be returned to the Electoral Services Office by 5.00pm 11 days before the election.
Or you can appoint a proxy (someone to vote on your behalf). You must complete an application to vote by proxy form which must be returned to the contact the Electoral Services Office by 5.00pm 5 days before the election.
If you have previously applied to have a postal vote as a permanent arrangement, and wish to change those arrangements, you must notify the Electoral Services Office by 5pm on 11 days before the election.
Q)When do I get my voting paper?
If you have applied for a postal vote, Royal Mail will deliver the ballot paper to you approximately 2 weeks before polling day.
Q)What time is the polling station open?
All polling stations will be open on polling day at 7.00am and close at 10pm.
Q) How can I find out about the results of the elections?
The results will be published on the Council’s website and on the noticeboards at the Waltham Forest Town Hall.
