Nomination as a candidate
To stand for election, whether as a councillor, an MP (Member of Parliament), an MEP (Member of the European Parliament), Mayor of London, or as a Member of the GLA (Greater London Authority), you must first be nominated as a candidate.
It is very important to understand the nomination process, as failure to comply with all the requirements and the very tight timescales will result in your nomination being disallowed.
The Electoral Commission website has detailed guidance on the process of becoming a candidate [external] in an election, along with the forms you need to complete. These vary depending on the type of election (for Council, for the Greater London Authority, for Parliament, or for the European Parliament).
IMPORTANT!
Because the deadlines are very tight, and the requirements are very strict, potential candidates are strongly recommended to contact the Waltham Forest Electoral Services section before nominations for an election open.
