Deputy Mayor Cllr Anna Mbachu

Councillor Anna Mbachu

Cllr Anna Mbachu has lived locally with her family for more than 17 years.  She entered politics to effect change and have input in the way services are delivered.

She has a BA (Hons), trained as a Registered Nurse in Mental Health and works as a psychiatric nurse.

In 2007, Cllr Mbachu was appointed to the following committees as a member:

  • Council
  • Standards Committee
  • Health, Adults and Older Persons Scrutiny Sub-Committee
  • Social Services Complaints Panel

In the same year, she was also Chairpersonfor Leyton and Whipps Cross Community Council, Vice Chair for Children and Young People Overview and Scrutiny Sub-Committee, and Secretary for the Waltham Forest Labour Party Group.

On being made Deputy Mayor, Cllr Mbachu said, “It is an honour to be elected and I pledge to serve the borough honourably.  I look forward to supporting the Mayor over the next 12 months.  I’m particularly keen to help with her charity fundraising as she has chosen two incredibly worthwhile causes”.
