How is it calculated?

The Council Tax is made up of two parts:

  • the amount raised to meet the spending needs of the London Borough of Waltham Forest
    plus
  • the amount raised to meet the spending needs of the Greater London Authority

Council Tax for 1 April 2007-31 March 2008

The Council Tax was set by Full Council on 22 February 2007. The first bills will be sent out on or after 8 March 2007, with the first instalment due by 1st April 2007, unless you pay by direct debit in which case a choice of instalment dates is offered.

The amounts payable for each Council Tax Band for the financial year 2007-2008 are set out below. These figures do not take account of any discounts, benefits, or other reliefs to which you may be entitled:

  • The amount charged to meet the spending needs of Waltham Forest Council has increased by 2.5%
  • The amount charged to meet the spending needs of the Greater London Authority has increased by 5.29%
  • Overall, this is an increase of 3.09% from 2006/07

Paying your Council Tax

  • You can set up a Direct Debit online to pay your Council Tax
    You can telephone us on 020 8496 3000 to set up a direct debit over the phone or to pay by debit/credit card
  • You can pay your Council Tax online by debit or credit card
  • Council Tax Instalments are due on the first of each month, except for people paying by direct debit. If you do not pay by direct debit, please make sure you allow enough time (at least 8 working days) for your payments to reach the Council by the first of each month
