What is a Residents' Panel?

The current Residents' Panel was recruited during September and October 2004. The Council has refreshed two thirds of the Panel with new members to ensure it continues to be representative of the demographic profile of the Borough and that participation levels remain high. There are currently 1,100 members.

The opinions and information they give will help the Council make informed decisions which will influence the future of local services in the Borough. Panel members will be recruited to reflect the population of the Borough in terms of age, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexuality, and faith.

The Panel is managed by BMG – Market Research Company on behalf of the Council.

How the panel can be used?

The Panel can be used to participate in a range of activities such as surveys, focus groups or workshops.

  • Surveys: These are postal questionnaires that are sent to Panel members at least twice a year.
  • Focus groups: Provide a forum where smaller groups of panel members are invited to discuss particular topics in depth.
  • Workshops: Provide an opportunity for larger numbers of panel members to come together to examine local issues in detail by listening to information and discussing their views.
