Performance indicators

Every quarter, the performance team report on a set of priority performance indicators, or ‘PI’s’, to Leadership Team and Cabinet.

In April 2008 Central Government introduced a set of National Indicators (NIs) which replace the old Best Value Performance Indicators (BVPIs).  During the past quarter, the Council have been identifying which of these 198 indicators will be a priority, to be reported on quarterly.  Therefore, the indicators reported in quarter two will be made up of NI’s and any important BVPI’s which have not been picked up by the national data set.

Quarterly Performance Summary for April to June 2008

Quarterly Performance Summary for January to March 2008

Quarterly Performance Summary for October to December 2007

For quarter one we reported on the performance of our new Local Area Agreement (LAA).  The LAA is an agreement made between the Council and the Government Office of London about which areas the Council will prioritize over the next three years.  These priorities are then monitored through the performance indicators.

As these indicators are new, comparisons with other London Boroughs can not yet be made.

Services responsible for PIs that are not on target must put together action plans for immediate improvement. Those services that do not improve are taken to ‘performance challenge sessions’, chaired by the Leader of the Council and attended by the Portfolio Lead for Service Modernisation and an officer from the Performance and Service Improvement team.  They bring together the Heads of the failing service, the Portfolio Lead and the appropriate Head of Performance to discuss specific issues and explain how they will improve the service.

If you would lilke to know more about how the Council has performed and how we plan to improve our service to you, see our performance report here.
