Estimates of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit entitlement
You can use the Web Benefits Calculator for an estimate of how much Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Benefit you may be entitled to.
Just fill in the information on the form then click on the calculate button to get your estimate.
The Web Benefits Calculator estimates how much benefit you may get based on the information you supply. The estimate does not guarantee that you will qualify, and it is not a formal claim for benefit.
We recommend that you use Internet Explorer 5.5, Netscape 6.0 or Firefox version 1.0 or higher to view the Benefits Calculator.
Making a claim
To receive benefit, you must make a claim - using the Web Benefits Calculator for an estimate does not count. You can make a claim in one of the following ways:
- apply online using our interactive benefit form
or - Download a Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit application (claim) form (PDF 1.5MB), then print it out
- Telephone Waltham Forest Direct and ask them to post you a claim form
- Pick up a claim form from a Waltham Forest Direct Shop
- Then fill in the form and return it to us - the address is on the form.
Your entitlement will usually start from:
- the Monday after you first contact us asking to claim (as long as we get your completed form within a month of you contacting us) or
- the Monday after we receive your form.
IMPORTANT:
- If you delay, you may receive less money.
- If you think you might be entitled to benefit, please make a claim as soon as possible.
- If you cannot get to one of the offices straight away, then ring up or email us to register your interest in claiming so that your claim will start straight away.
But you must complete and return a claim form within one calendar month of contact.
