The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the Act) requires the Council to adopt a "pro-active" approach to providing information to the public.

In compliance with the Act, the Council has produced a Publication Scheme. This is a guide to the information that the Council publishes routinely, or intends to publish routinely.

The Scheme sets out the following:

  • The classes of information that the Council routinely publishes, or intends to publish;
  • The manner in which the information is published;
  • Details of any charges.

The meaning of "publication" is not limited to information contained in a bound or printed form (such as brochures or books). Publication can also include computer printouts or documents available for inspection.

The Council's intention is to provide an accessible and easy to follow Publication Scheme, to help the public access the wide range of information that the Council publishes. The Council is committed to updating the scheme on a regular basis to maintain the highest level of accessibility to Council information.
