Annual Audit Letter
The External Auditors and the Audit Commission have produced a joint annual summary of their audit work in respect of the year ended 31st March 2005 and inspection work during the calendar year 2005. The letter covers work on the financial statements, systems, corporate governance and performance. On the 30th September 2005, Deloitte & Touche, the Council’s external auditors, issued an unqualified opinion on the annual financial accounts.
The letter summarises their opinions and conclusions arising from their work, and raises any matters of substance or significance that they believe should be brought to Member’s attention.
The letter closely reflects the December 2005 Audit Commission findings about the Council. Improvements are being made in many areas, and the Council has been judged as improving well.
