The External Auditor and the Audit Commission have produced a joint annual summary of their audit work. It draws on the recent Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA), the findings and conclusions from the audit of the Council for 2006/07 and from inspection work undertaken since the last Annual Audit and Inspection Letter (February 2007).
The key messages are the Council has continued to perform well, maintaining its overall 3 star CPA rating. The direction of travel has again been positive with the Council being well placed to deliver further continuous improvement.
The letter includes key issues and recommendations for Members’ attention. These should be consolidated and followed up by the Governance Committee during 2008.
