Waltham Forest Council recognises that there are a whole host of activities which benefit residents that the voluntary and community sector (VCS) does expertly. We aim to enable and support the VCS to effectively deliver services, and to strengthen our partnership with the sector.
To this effect, we invest nearly £2 million per annum in voluntary and community organisations through commissioning of services from the sector.
The services commissioned from the VCS for the next three years will be enormously beneficial to the people who use them, and will help the Council meet the needs of Waltham Forest’s diverse community by providing high quality, efficient services.
The services commissioned were devised to meet needs identified as priorities in our Local Area Agreement (LAA). The Local Area Agreement was agreed by the Local Strategic Partnerships (LSP), which has voluntary sector representation.
For the first time the Council has commissioned services from the VCS for three years, which gives the groups financial stability to deliver excellent services.
Services include sports activities, adult and social care, community safety, advice and financial inclusion, services for street homeless, services for children and young people, services aimed at enhancing social inclusion and the development of the voluntary sector as a whole.
