A Civil Naming ceremony is a very special way of celebrating the birth of your child and welcoming the new arrival into the family and the wider community. It is a non-religious ceremony, which gives an opportunity to declare before family and friends, your promise to be as good a parent as you can, and for adult friends or relatives to confirm their special relationship with your child.

The ceremony is also an ideal way of creating family bonding for adoptive or step-children, to welcome them into their new extended family.

The specially written, dignified ceremony will be tailored to suit the individual need of the family. There is a wide choice of poems and readings available to enhance the ceremony and a souvenir record of the ceremony will be signed and presented during the event.

Any parent can arrange a Naming Ceremony, whether they are married or not. It is a non-religious ceremony, so it does not matter what beliefs you hold nor what ethnic or cultural background you are from.

The ceremony can be held at either the Register Office, an approved venue or at any other place, including your own home within the London Borough of Waltham Forest.

Naming ceremonies cost £250.00 regardless of the venue or time and day of the ceremony.

Please note that neither the naming ceremony, or the souvenir certificate issued have any legal status.
