Forest Road Access Improvement Scheme
Waltham Forest Council is intending to provide a new access road to reduce the number of accidents occurring along Forest Road. The new road will provide a combined access into the commuter car park and Forest Works industrial estate. The new road is also consistent with the aims of the wider strategy for the Blackhorse Lane area, in particular, to manage traffic and encourage sustainable transport.
Planning consent for the road was granted in March and a Compulsory Purchase Order (in respect of the land required for the construction of the road), along with a Stopping Up Order for existing private access to the site on Forest Road, has been made.

Cabinet approves the Interim Planning Policy Framework
Following consultation on a draft document, on the 19 September Cabinet approved the Blackhorse Lane Interim Planning Policy Framework. The culmination of two years work in partnership with local people, local businesses and other agencies, the Interim Planning Policy Framework provides a blueprint for shaping the future of the Blackhorse Lane area. The IPPF has been endorsed by the Mayor of London.
Blackhorse Lane is an area with significant untapped potential. Located adjacent to the wonderful natural resource of the Lee Valley Regional Park, with good rail and tube connections to London, and situated within the London-Stansted-Cambridge-Peterborough growth corridor, Blackhorse Lane has the potential to be transformed from an area in need of renewal and modernisation, to an area in which people and businesses choose to live and invest.
The Interim Planning Policy Framework is intended to support and encourage this transformation over the next 10 years. It outlines a clear vision for the future of the area that is not only supported by the Council but also enjoys widespread support from other statutory agencies, landowners and the local community.
