Telling the council about your move
Moving home can be very stressful at the best of times. So Waltham Forest has joined with "I am Moving" to offer you this new service to tell lots of organisations and government departments about your move, in one easy go, including the council.
You decide which organisations you want to tell, including:
- Banks and financial services
- Utilities:
- Gas suppliers
- Electricity suppliers
- Water companies
- Government departments and agencies:
- Inland Revenue
- Passport Agency
- DVLA (driving licences and vehicle registration)
- Dept. of Work and Pensions (formerly the DSS, for benefits, pensions, etc.)
How to use the "I am Moving" service
Just click on the link below to go to their secure site. Once there, you register with them, then fill in the details about your change of address. You can also choose which other organisations, if any, that you want "I am Moving" to tell about your move. Full instructions and help are available on the site:
>> Go to I am Moving (external)
How does it work?
"I am Moving" then pass us details of your change of address and we tell Council Tax, Housing Benefits, Housing Rents (for council tenants) and Electoral Registration that you have moved, so that they can update their records.
What is "I am Moving"?
"I am Moving" is a product of Moving Technologies Ltd (MTL), which is partly owned by the Royal Mail. This company has been set up to make it easier to inform people and organisations that you have moved home. You only have to tell "I am Moving" about your move once, and then decide who you want them to advise on your behalf. They do the rest of the work for you.
