Prior to the development of the Step2Step Project, the Children and Families Service involved looked after children and young people in ad-hoc participation initiatives, which operated independently of each other and with varying degrees of success. Within the service itself, there wasn’t a culture of participation or partnership working with children and young people.
The Step2Step Project has established a model of partnership working with children and young people which works throughout the Children and Families division. It ensure that participation and partnership activities with children and young people who are looked after, are co-ordinated, meaningful and make a difference.
