Introduction
Below you will find examples of work taking place across Waltham Forest against each standard and its various indicators. This has been structured as follows:
Column 1: Indicator
This details each of the indicators that we must meet to gain the standard. The indicators are listed under progressive levels (1-3), with Level 3 showing an advanced level of children and young people’s involvement. Each indicator includes a working example from Waltham Forest to guide your practice and implementation.
Column 2: Existing activity
Here you are asked to give an overview of the involvement activity or policy that is evidence of our meeting the relevant indicator.
Column 3: Supporting evidence
This is where you attach written evidence to support the activity or policy mentioned in column 2. You are provided with a ‘What’s Made a Difference?’ template which, in partnership with children and young people should be completed and uploaded to support each existing activity (see below).
Column 4: Rating
You are asked to rate each activity you mention on a scale of 1 – 4 (1 – In place and effective; 2 – In place but needs improving; 3 – Currently being established; 4 – Not in place).
Column 5: Next steps
This is an opportunity for you to mention and share future practice which builds on what you have already mentioned, or would raise the rating of the activity to another level (e.g. from ‘currently being established’ to ‘in place and effective’).
Levels 1–3
The levels indicate how embedded children and young people’s involvement is within the organisation. Our aim is to achieve the highest, level 3.
‘What’s Made a Difference?’ tool
This tool records the most important evidence of change, from the children and young people themselves. It is essential that they tell their story in their own words to evidence change. You can use these examples to celebrate achievements of what’s changed.
