The CCNT provides specialist nursing care, advice and support for children and young people aged 0-16 years (up to 19 years in exceptional cases) who have both short and long term health problems. The CCNT works in partnership with children and their families as well as other agencies such as school, nursery, hospital staff etc. to enable the children to attain and maintain their optimum level of health.
The CCNT can support children and young people who have needs relating to but not exclusively to the following:
- Diabetes.
- Respiratory disorders - asthma, cystic fibrosis, bronchiolitis and home oxygen therapy.
- Oncology (cancer) and some blood related disorders.
- Skin conditions such as eczema
- Wound care e.g. scalds, burns and post operative wounds.
- HIV/AIDS
- Epilepsy
- Complex care needs e.g. children who have long term conditions.
- Administration of intravenous medications.
- Tube feeding.
- Palliative care for children who have life limiting conditions.
The CCNT service presently operates between 8.30am to 4.30pm, 6 days a week Monday to Saturday, and it is our intention to extend our hours in the future.
The CCNT will visit children at home, clinic, school, and nursery or where ever it is considered to be the most appropriate place to treat the child.
