92 Leyton Green Road is a respite centre equipped and adapted to meet the needs of disabled children. The Centre provides residential and day-care services.

Referrals to the Centre are made following a 'Child in Need' assessment and care plan recommendation. The services available are:

Day care respite

This service runs seven days a week throughout the year. During term time the centre runs a range of after school clubs and weekend support. In the holidays the after-school clubs convert to day care arrangements

Residential respite

The centre provides six beds to 'Looked After' children. The beds are available three nights per week - Thursday, Friday and Saturday - enabling children to stay overnight, or for the weekend. This service allows parents and carers to have an overnight respite break when this is the assessed need.

Community support programme

The main features of the Community Support Programme are to support parents:

  • to improve their parenting style
  • to engage more with the disabled child/young person
  • to develop skills to manage challenging behaviour
  • to be responsible for the care and well-being of their children
  • to enhance and enable their children to become more independent
  • to become less dependent on the services, and learn new skills and techniques in dealing with the needs of their children
  • to acquire the ability to carry out and maintain programmes put in place by professionals to effect/modify change in their children
  • and enable them to identify suitable possible resources/networks within their own family/community
  • and enable them to rebuild their confidence in continuing the support to their children
