The Children's Planning and Intervention Service works with children and their families where children are "in need" as defined by the Children Act 1989. This means, for example, children who are privately fostered, children who may be the subject of Supervision Orders or Family Assistance Orders (as given by the courts) or children who have returned to their family after some time in care. We also work with children who are subject of a child protection plan, which means that a multi-agency conference has decided that the child may be at risk of harm. All our work is undertaken with other professionals who work with children (i.e. schools, health visitors etc.), and in partnership with parents/carers - although the focus of our work will always be with the child.
