MAPPA
(Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements)
The Criminal Justice Act 2000 required all local Police and Probation services to establish MAPPA’s. Their role is to assess and manage the risks posed by sexual and violent offenders, and any other persons who it is considered may cause serious harm to the public, with input from other agencies (i.e Social Services, Education, Housing etc.).
Guidance on the criteria for referral into MAPPA is contained in the London Child Protection Procedures, section 13.2.4. This includes referrals in by local agencies.
If you are working with a child and/or their family and have concern that one of the adults fall within the remit of MAPPA, please contact:
Lucy Erber, Principal Manager (Child Protection and Review Service) on 020 8496 1634 (for Social Services staff)
