LSCB Business Plan 2008-2009

We are currently finalising the LSCB Business Plan for the year 2008-2009, key areas of work will include:

  • Engaging with faith communities and the Private, Voluntary and independent sectors (PVI) to help them achieve their safeguarding duties and objectives.
  • Ensuring that all partner agencies are compliant with section 11 of the Children Act 2004 and raise practice standards.
  • Providing a current and relevant training schedule allowing professionals to acquire the necessary knowledge and understanding to allow them to effectively carry out their safeguarding duties.
  • Ensuring that all safeguarding activities takes into account the diversity of the community and more specifically the needs of the BME groups of children and young people within WF.
  • Looking at the bullying and gang activity, which is present in the community.  The vulnerability of Waltham Forest’s young people to becoming involved in gang activity will be researched with the piloting of a Gangs screening tool.

The Whole LSCB Event

This year's Whole LSCB Event will be taking place on the 16 October 2008 and will be held at:

The meeting will commence promptly at 2.00 pm but refreshments will be available from 1.30pm.  As this event sets the agenda for the 2009-12 Business Plan, members are requested to prioritise this event in their diary and make every effort to attend.

General Dental Council - Statement on child protection and vulnerable adults

The General Dental Council (GDC) has produced an online resource for its professionals - "Child Protection and the Dental Team” - to assist in identifying a concern regarding child abuse or neglect.
