At present the Waltham Forest Carers Register is kept by Social Services to help carers with:

  • with information on the services and organisations available to support you
  • by sending out a regular newsletter to keep you in touch with other carers and what's going on locally

The Carers Register is kept so that Social Services can:

  • identify the extent of caring that goes on in the Borough
  • consult carers on future service developments
  • target services to meet the needs of carers
  • provide a named contact to link you to services that you may require to enable you to take a break
  • keep in touch with you
  • contact you at least once a year

Who can join the register?

Anyone who provides regular care for someone can join. Carers can be any age or sex.

The register is completely confidential and all information on it is protected by the Data Protection Act 1998.

Waltham Forest Social Services has an access to files policy. All information received is subject to the Access to Personal Files Act 1987, the Data Protection Act and the new Freedom of Information Act.
