If you have a mental health problem and need to travel to attend a rehabilitation programme you may be eligible to a travel pass. This will provide you with free travel on most of London’s public transport - buses, trains and tubes. Travel passes are valid for two years. But the need for the pass is likely to be reviewed depending on the length of the programme you are attending.

Who can have this service?

  • You must be under retirement age (65 men, 60 women) and live in Waltham Forest
  • You have been assessed by us as needing a travel pass to attend a rehabilitation programme or Mental Health Day Centre

Will I have to pay towards this service?

No. The pass is issued free of charge. You will have to supply a recent photograph of yourself which costs a small amount.

How to get this service

You should apply for a travel permit via the Day Service Centre you are attending.

Other information

The Travel Pass can only be used after 9.30am. Monday to Friday.

The pass can be used on the Underground system even when it goes outside Greater London. Buses are free on all London Transport routes within Greater London.
