If you have a serious mental health need and can no longer live by yourself or with family or friends there are the following types of accommodation with a range of support that may be available:
Group and Shared Homes
Provide accommodation and support to people with long term mental health needs.
Bedsit Scheme
Offers supported bedsit accommodation to people who have the ability to move on to ordinary housing within a year.
Supportive accommodation
Offers a comprehensive range of services to single homeless people with mental health needs who have particular difficulties relating to existing services.
Rehabilitation Project
Offers support to people with mental health needs who have the capacity and motivation to benefit from a rehabilitation programme.
Adult Placement Scheme
You have your own room, with carers, who are private householders. A flexible range of care and support will be provided.
Who can have this service?
- You must be at least 18 years old and live in Waltham Forest
- You have a serious mental health problem and are unable to live on your own or with your family or friends
- You have had an assessment by the Locality Mental Health Team which shows you have a high or very high priority need for this service
Will I have to pay towards this service?
Yes, you will be charged rent as with any other type of accommodation but you will not be charged for advice.
How to get this service
Contact your Locality Mental Health Team. There are two Locality Mental Health Teams for people aged 18 to 64. There is also a Team for People aged 65 and over (this is based in two offices).
