We provide a range of groups you can join to help you gain skills and confidence, and meet other people. These run during the day, in the evenings and at weekends.
Examples of groups that we run are:
- Leisure and Recreation: Sunday Luncheon Club cooking, beauty and self care groups
- Health Education skills and support activities: anxiety management, movement and relaxation, Asian men’s support group, social skills group, African/ Caribbean group
- Art and Craft Groups: sewing groups, writers group, art group
- Sheltered Workshop Opportunities: picture framing, ceramics, stained glass and catering
Who can have this service?
- You should normally live in Waltham Forest
- You have a serious mental health problem
- You have had an assessment which shows that you have a need and would benefit from attending these activities
Will I have to pay towards this service?
We do charge for this service. We will tell you how much this is likely to be (if at all) as part of your Community Care Assessment. See Community Care Charges for details.
Who provides this service?
There is a Social Services Centre in Walthamstow where most of these activities take place. Some activities are provided at other venues.

Other information
- A written Service Agreement will be drawn up with you showing how your needs will be met
- Meetings to talk about how you are getting on will be held every three months and you will be given a written account of the meeting
- Your views will be taken into account about the development of the centre you attend
- You will be given a named worker who will take a special interest in your progress
