What do we provide?
Occupational therapists aim to improve the quality of people's lives by enabling them to be more independent in their day-to-day living.
- We work with people in their homes or day centres to help them gain or develop skills
- We assess the person's difficulties, needs and concerns around:
- Personal care e.g. washing and dressing
- Domestic tasks e.g. housework and cooking
- Community and leisure activities e.g. using public transport or using the swimming pool
- Work and vocational skills e.g. sheltered employment and training
- We then discuss and plan ways of working towards possible solutions and of overcoming the effects of their disability
Who can have this service?
Adults with a learning disability living in Waltham Forest who are assessed as needing the service.
Will I have to pay?
No. It is provided free, according to health need.
