This service provides an ordinary home environment for people with learning disabilities who need respite, short or long term care. It offers an alternative to other supported accommodation options and widens the choice for a person and their carers.

Living with another family or individual gives the person the opportunity to mix with other members of the household, meet family, friends and neighbours, and join in normal daily activities as much as they are able. It also provides the stability and support to enable people to develop their skills as well as their own friendships and interests.

Who can have this service?

Adults with a learning disability living in Waltham Forest or Redbridge who are assessed as needing the service.

Will I have to pay?

Yes, there is a charge for this service.

Who provides this service?

Families in Waltham Forest and Redbridge, who have been assessed, approved and contracted by the Department. These families are supported and supervised by the Adult Family Placement Scheme, who are regulated and inspected by the Commission of Social Care Inspection (CSCI)
