A day centre for older people

What we offer

  • The Morley Centre is open from 9am-5.30pm five days a week, including Christmas and Easter and some other bank holidays.
  • We can care for up to 30 elderly people a day.
  • We offer support to older people who want to remain living in their own homes. We do this by providing an outreach service visiting people in their homes and provide services at the centre.
  • We have a carer support worker who works in conjunction with Waltham Forest Carers Association to provide help, information and support to carers. We are organising carers workshops which run throughout the year.
  • We have an active carers group and service-user involvement group which enables users and carers to become involved with the management of the service.
  • We provide high quality care that meets a wide range of needs and we specialise in services for people with dementia. We work in collaboration with NELMHT (North East London Mental Health Trust) and the PCT (Primary Care Trust).
  • The day centre has a lounge, dining area and a craft room, all are decorated to a high standard and have comfortable chairs. There is also a small kitchen for users. The bathroom, shower and toilets are properly equipped for people with disabilities.
  • The day centre has a walled garden with a wildlife pond, roses, shrubs and herbaceous borders and garden furniture for sitting outside.
  • We offer a wide range of activities, including music and relaxation, group discussions, aromatherapy, reminiscences (talks about the past), quizzes and crossword puzzles, video shows and gardening.
  • Shopping trips and outings are arranged.
  • Low cost hairdressing services are available each week.
  • Our meals services cater for all medical, cultural and religious dietary needs. Light breakfasts, sandwiches and hot savouries are available. There is a charge

Cost

All our service users are financially assesed and depending on the outcome of the assessment a charge may be made. Click here for more information.

Transport

A bus or car, with an escort to ensure your safety, will bring you to and from the day centre. In addition to this we have an allocated bus for use throughout the day for outings, shopping trips etc.

Guaranteed standards

High quality care is guaranteed in all Waltham Forest day centres and we are currently working on a new set of standards.

Help on hand

All lounges, the personal care room, bathrooms and toilets are fitted with alarms, so that help can always be called when it is needed.

Individual care

  • All users have their own care plan. It is revised every six months
  • You will be given the name of a person who will take a special interest in you and an alternative person if your named person is not available
  • You can decide what activities to take part in from a wide range, including music and relaxation, group discussions, aromatherapy, reminiscences (talks about the past), quizzes and crossword puzzles, video shows and gardening.

When things go wrong

You can complain if you are not satisfied about anything at the day centre. We will help you if you need help to make a suggestion, comment or complaint.
