A day centre for older people

What we offer

  • Crownfield Road is a purpose-built day centre and is open from 9am-5.30pm five days a week, including Christmas and Easter and some other bank holidays.
  • We can care for up to 40 older people a day. We support older people who want to remain living in their own homes.
  • We provide high quality care that meets a wide range of needs and we specialise in services for people with dementia. We work in collaboration with NELMHT (North East London Mental Health Trust) and the PCT (Primary Care Trust).
  • We offer a multi-cultural service that provides high quality care and meets a wide range of needs.
  • We have a carer support worker who works in conjunction with Waltham Forest Carers Association to provide help, information and support to carers. We are organising carers workshops which run throughout the year.

We have an active carers group and service-user involvement group which enables users and carers to become involved with the management of the service.

The day centre has a spacious lounge, dining area and activities room. All are decorated to a high standard and have comfortable seats. There is a small kitchen for users.

The centre has a secluded garden with an aviary and comfortable seats. The garden has roses, shrubs and herbaceous borders.

  • We offer a wide range of activities including reminiscence (talks about the past), quizzes, handicrafts, games, current affairs, gardening, bingo and entertainment for those users who want to take part.
  • Shopping trips and outings are arranged.
  • Bathrooms and toilets are properly equipped for people with disabilities.
  • Low cost hairdressing services are available each week.
  • Our meals services cater for all medical, cultural and religious dietary needs. Light breakfast and sandwiches are served. There is a charge.
  • A personal care room is available throughout the day.
  • A separate smoking area is provided.

All our service users are financially assesed and depending on the outcome of the assessment a charge may be made. Click here for more infromation.

Transport

A bus or car, with an escort to ensure your safety, will bring you to and from the day centre.

High quality care is guaranteed in all Waltham Forest day centres.

Help on hand

All areas of the day centre are fitted with alarms so that help can always be called when it is needed

Individual care

  • All users have their own care plan. It is revised every six months
  • You will be given the name of a person who will take a special interest in you and an alternative person if your named person is not available
  • You can decide what activities you want to take part in

When things go wrong

You can complain if you are not satisfied about anything at the centre. We will help you if you need help to make a suggestion, comment or complaint.
