The Community Equipment Service provides a single point of contact for children, adults and older people needing equipment to help with general living tasks. This includes special mattresses, bath and shower boards, walking frames, crutches and nursing equipment.
Hundreds of essential daily living items, from walking aids to nursing equipment, are now available through a single point of contact as part of a joint project involving Waltham Forest Social Services, Waltham Forest Primary Care Trust (PCT) and Whipps Cross University Hospital.
We can arrange for occupational therapists, who make assessments on people's needs, to make contact with those who may need to use the service. And can also collect equipment which is no longer needed.
The service is available to members of the public as well as health professionals including GP’s, health visitors, district nurses and occupational therapists.
