Trading Standards deal with complaints about false or misleading description of goods or services. They are particularly interested in any claims made about the usefulness of products for disabled people. Trading Standards also keep a check on the practices of credit companies and moneylenders.
Fair Trading Act
Most of the Office of Fair Trading's powers under the Fair Trading Act (FTA) were repealed with the commencement of the Enterprise Act 2002. The Act makes a number of important reforms, which are designed to crack down on abuses that harm customers and fair-trading businesses.
