The licensing of petrol filling stations and other commercial petrol storage facilities in London is carried out by the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority.

» View information about petroleum licensing.

The London Borough of Waltham Forest does not licence petrol stations, but our Trading Standards service can help if you are concerned about petrol stations whose pumps may calculate amounts of petrol and/or prices incorrectly. See the  list of registered petrol filling stations in the borough.

The keeping of petrol must be in accordance with conditions attached to a licence issued under the Petroleum (Consolidation) Act 1928. When an Inspector appointed by the licensing authority visits a petrol filling station the aim is to ensure the observance, maintenance and, where necessary, the improvement of safety standards.
