Hazards and health
Waltham Forest is an enforcing authority. We routinely inspect shops, offices, warehouses and other mainly commercial premises. Industrial premises and such workplaces as construction sites are inspected by the Health and Safety Executive under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 etc.
It is a legal requirement for employer to report accidents and dangerous occurrences at work to the enforcing authority. we will carry out a full investigation where necessary.
Vaccinations
Before jetting off on holiday or on a business trip it is worth taking a few moments to consider that travelling around the world always brings with it some risks to health.
Vaccinations are required when travelling to certain countries, the number and type of immunisations vary from country to country.
The UK Department of Health 'Health advice for travellers' provides information about vaccinations you may need for different countries. Your GP should also be able to give you advice and administer vaccinations or refer you to someone who can.
Please contact your Doctor at least 6-8 weeks prior to travelling to discuss your requirements.
Cooling tower notification
All premises where cooling towers and evaporative condensers are situated must register with the local authority under The Notification of Cooling Towers and Evaporative Condensers Regulations 1992.
The prime purpose of this is to identify potential areas that could give rise to spread of infectious disease e.g. legionella and to ensure preventative measures are taken to eliminate the risk of such infection arising to employees and the public.
