Q) Who is liable to pay the BID investment?
A) The occupier of the business property is liable to pay. If the property is empty at the start of the BID, then the owner will be liable.
Q) How soon after receiving my bill for the BIDs investment will I have to pay?
A) Full payment must be made within 21 days.
Q) How will I be able to make payment?
A) Payment can be made by cash, cheque or credit/debit card. Full details of how to pay will be provided on the actual bill. It is not possible at this time to pay by Direct Debit or Standing Order.
Q) If I leave my business premises part way through the year will I be entitled to a refund?
A) No. There will be no adjustments made to reflect any changes brought about by either vacating premises before the end of the financial year or by changes in rateable values etc.
Q) Do I have to advise you if I vacate the premises?
A) Yes, we will need to make the new occupier liable for the BID investment for the following financial year.
Q) Will I have to pay the full BID investment even if the property is empty?
A) Yes. The full investment is payable on empty properties.
Q) Will charities be entitled to any reduction?
A) No. Charities will have to pay the full investment.
Q) If I refuse to pay the BID investment what will the Council do?
A) Recovery action can be taken to recover the investment in exactly the same way as Business Rates. If it is necessary to issue a court summons, then costs of £185.00 will become due and the account could be passed to bailiffs for collection.
Q) What will the BID investment be spent on exactly?
A) You should contact your BID company for the full details of how the investment will be spent.
Q) How can I make a voluntary payment?
A) Voluntary payments must be made directly to the BIDs company. Please contact them for further details.
