As a host of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, this is a once in a lifetime event and we want this to be a motivating experience for local residents. We already have a wide range of sport programmes and facilities in place, and it’s our intention to build upon this using the Games as an inspiration. With the many cultural, sporting and educational opportunities on offer, we want to ensure that opportunities are available for local residents to play a part in hosting the best Olympic and Paralympic Games ever.

Getting involved can mean anything from working at the Games in the many jobs that will need to be filled to having a say on the plans. There is also a whole range of volunteering opportunities available leading up to and during the Games.

What our friends say

Tanni Grey Thompson, Britain’s greatest Paralympian

“In 2012 Waltham Forest will be buzzing with excitement about the start of the Paralympic Games. London will put on a great event and also ensure that a lasting sporting legacy is left for people with a disability. I want the London 2012 Paralympic Games to be a catalyst for a change in people’s attitudes about disability. This is not just about a two week period of time, it is about a whole culture change to inspire people.”
