Come and Try Fortnight update

Over 300 local residents benefited from the Council's 'Come and Try' fortnight aimed at encouraging residents to try out new sports, with a particular focus on Olympic and Paralympic sports.

As a direct result, many residents also joined clubs as full time members and have been going back ever since. Over 30 people attended Leyton Boxing Club in the fortnight, some families went on new bike rides with the Lea Valley Cycling Club.

Esrar Ahmed, Senior Instructor from Hadri Taekwondo in Walthamstow said ‘The 2 weeks were an amazing success for us. We had 20 new people during the fortnight - the class was absolutely packed out and we had extra black belts on hand to help out.  The atmosphere was great since then we've had more participants every week.’
