1948:2012 Exhibition
The 1948:2012 exhibition looks back to the last time the Olympic Games came to London and looks forward to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Olympic Games last came to London in 1948 after a 12-year break during which time two Games had to be cancelled due to World War Two.
1948 was a fascinating year for London and Waltham Forest, and this unique and innovative exhibition celebrates London’s immense achievement in organising a major world event just three years after the war. Focusing on the personal accounts of local residents, it combines news footage from 1948, oral history and an interactive display.
The 1948:2012 exhibition is not currently on display, but for more information about the exhibition materials, please contact the 2012 Team on olympics@walthamforest.gov.uk or call 020 8496 3000.
