Housing and Wheelie Bin Survey (June 2010)
Waltham Forest Council has commissioned Waste Watch to carry out a housing and wheelie bin survey. The survey will provide Waltham Forest Council with the number of properties within each of the different housing groups; houses converted to flats, terraced, semi and detached houses, and also the number and types of wheeled bins in use by residents. This information will be used to inform the Waste Plan which is currently under development.
The Waste Plan will set out key targets, and actions to tackle the waste produced by Waltham Forest residents.
How are we doing?
We have successfully implemented a mixed dry recycling pilot on estates and residential properties across the borough to make recycling easier for our residents.
We have implemented timed refuse collection pilot for flats above shops (Leytonstone High Street).
Comments from service users

“Congratulations to the Waltham Forest (Gritter) and refuse departments for providing an excellent service during the Christmas holidays and the recent cold weather period.” Resident of Pole Hill E4
