The local authority no longer has a dedicated Traveller Education Service

Gypsy, Roma, Traveller (GRT) Young People

The Social Inclusion Service holds responsibility for the delivery of the Fair Access Protocol in line with the School Admissions Code 2013.

Part 3 of this document outlines the young people of compulsory school age to be included in the Fair Access Protocol. The Protocol is designed to assist the process of securing a school place for a number of young people from a variety of backgrounds.

Gypsy, Roma, Traveller young people are included in the Fair Access Protocol.

The Social Inclusion Caseworkers working to Part 3 of the School Admissions Code will hold responsibility for Children Missing Education from Gypsy, Roma, Traveller backgrounds. Their work will be both reactive and proactive to assist with securing the appropriate education pathway.

The work of the Social Inclusion Service and the Social Inclusion Caseworkers will be restricted to the CME Gypsy, Roma, Traveller function and not the remit of the former Traveller Education Service.

For young people who are Children Missing Education other than GRT the Social Inclusion Service has a CME Engagement Caseworker. The number is given below.
