Applying for a secondary place for September 2015

If your child is currently in Year 6 they are due to start secondary school in September 2015.

You must still apply for a secondary place for your child even if they attend an all-through school or have an older brother or sister at your preferred school.

The eAdmissions website for online applications opens on 1 September and the closing date for applications is 31 October 2014. There is a link to the website at the top right of this page and you can also download a guide explaining how to apply for your child’s school place online (PDF file 139KB)

If you and your child live in Waltham Forest you must apply through us. If you and your child live outside Waltham Forest, you must apply to the local authority in which you live. The eAdmissions website will redirect your application to the correct local authority based on the address and postcode you enter.

The booklet ‘Starting Secondary School 2015’ contains all the information you need to know about applying for a secondary school place. If your child attends a Waltham Forest primary school, a copy of the booklet will be sent home with them during the week of 8 September. If your child does not bring home a copy please pick one up from the school office. If your child attends a school outside Waltham Forest  you will be able to download the booklet from this page from 8 September.

The closing date for applications is 31 October 2014

Supplementary Information Forms (SIFs)

Some schools need extra information, which we do not collect on our application form, to apply their admissions criteria. Eden Girls’ School, Highams Park School and Holy Family Catholic School will ask you to complete a Supplementary Information Form (SIF).

SIFs are available from the relevant schools or their websites. If you are applying for a school outside Waltham Forest you will need to check with the local authority where the school is located to find out if you need to complete a SIF.

If you do not complete a SIF this may result in your child not being offered a place at the school.

Secondary open evenings

Waltham Forest secondary schools will be holding their open evenings in September and October. A list of the dates and times for each school is below. Attending the open evenings for your preferred schools will give you and your child an opportunity to take a tour of the school and speak to teachers and current pupils.  Officers from the School Admissions Service will be at the open evenings to answer any questions you have about the secondary transfer.
