Street cleaning

Clean streets is a priority for Waltham Forest Council and we are committed to maintaining a clean and safe environment for residents. This includes all public roads at least once a week, emptying litter bins before they overflow, clearing dumped rubbish within 5 days on public open spaces managed by the Council.

Ascham Homes are responsible for keeping their estate tidy. Please contact Ascham Homes directly between 8am and 6pm on 020 8496 4197.

Report litter

Report litter online.

If you are not able to complete the online form then report litter by calling Waltham Forest Direct on 020 8496 3000.

Anyone caught dropping litter can be fined £80.

The Council is not responsible for clearing up litter on private land. All reports of litter on private land will be passed to the Enforcement Team for investigation.

Report problems with litter bins

Report an overflowing or broken litter bin online.

Report fly- tipping

Report fly-tipping online.

If you are not able to complete the online form then report fly-tipping by calling Waltham Forest Direct on 020 8496 3000.

The Council aims to clear reported dumped rubbish on:

  • Public roads, by 6pm next working day, and
  • Public open spaces managed by the Council, within 5 working days

Fly-tipping is an offence and those responsible are liable to prosecution with a Fixed Penalty Notice.

Sweepers sacks

Pedestrian cleaners leave sacks of street sweepings, and waste from litter bins, for subsequent collections All sacks should be cleared the same day they are placed.
