How to join the library

Membership is FREE and open to everyone who lives, works or attends full time education in Waltham Forest.

You can register online.

Once you have joined you will be given a library card which you can use at any library in the borough. You can also use any library in the boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Bexley, Brent, Ealing, Enfield, Hackney, Havering, Kingston, Lewisham, Merton, Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets and Wandsworth with your Waltham Forest library card. These libraries are part of the London Library Consortium.

What you can borrow...

Adult members can borrow

  • 15 books
  • 6 DVDs
  • 12 audio books
  • 6 CDs
  • 2 language courses

Children and young adults (0-15 years) can borrow

  • 15 books
  • 6 DVDs (age appropriate)
  • 6 audio books
  • 6 CDs
  • 2 language courses

What we charge for

We charge for all DVDs and CDs (all junior CDs are free), adult reservations (junior reservations are free), replacement library cards and library fines on overdue items.

If you have a library membership card there is no need to join to use our online library service - just go straight to Libraries Online.

You will need your library membership card number and your PIN. If you do not know your PIN you will need to visit your local library with proof of name and address.
