16-25's get fit for free

If you’re aged 16-25, live in Waltham Forest and exercise less than twice a week, we can help you to get back in shape. Enjoy a variety of activities for free at your local Better leisure centres for the first six weeks, and then at a reduced rate of £2 per selected session for four weeks. See below for more details:

Stage 1 (6 weeks)

Participants need to complete 6 out of 8 following activities: 2 gym sessions, 2 swim sessions, 2 group exercise sessions, 2 racquet sessions. All activities will be Free of charge.

Process: Come into the centre before 11th January 2016 to apply. No joining fee. Activities subject to availability. No gym induction required. At the end of stage 1 you will be contacted to move to stage 2.

Stage 2 (4 weeks)

Participants need to complete 4 following activities: 1 gym session, 1 swim session, 1 group exercise session, 1 racquet session. £2.00 charge per activity will apply.

Process: No joining fee. Activities subject to availability. At the end of stage 2 our sales representative will contact the participants to move to stage 3.

Stage 3

50% off the first 3 months of your Better 16-25 Health and Fitness Membership, including No Joining Fee. The participants must complete activities within the first two stages to apply for a reduced membership. No joining fee.

Our parks - Get Fit for free

Free fitness classes have begun in 8 parks in Waltham Forest. The classes are fully inclusive and all levels of fitness are welcome.

Classes include: ABs Bums and Thighs, Box Fit, Dance Fit, Hula Hoop Fitness, Our Circuit, Pilates, Social Sport, Skip Fit and Yoga.

The sessions take place at:

Parkrun - 5km

Parkrun takes place at The Peter May Centre, 135 Wadham Road, London. E17 4HR.

Parkrun is a 5km weekly timed event open to all ages and abilities, you need to register at to obtain your bar code and take part.

Back in the Game

The Sport and Leisure team have been awarded funding by London Sport to develop a sporting activity programme for 19-25 year olds in Waltham Forest. The programme consists of ten x eight week activity courses in 8 different sports located across the borough. Each session is aimed at beginners and is completely free to take part in. You do not need to book your place on a preferred course(s), you just need to turn up to the session. The courses start FORM THE 12TH October and include: tennis, beginners running, bounce fit, female basketball, Netball, Judo, squash, boxing and ladies football.
