Council launches Street Gallery

14 September 2012 in Waltham Forest News

Waltham Forest Council has launched The Street Gallery at the junction of Cleveland Park Ave and High Street in Walthamstow, using the 99p Store as the canvas.

The artist Joby Williamson has launched this space as part of the E17 Art trail and demonstrates how the space could be used.  Joby has enlarged locally found discarded post-it notes to gigantic proportions, raising questions about the significance of things we choose to keep and to cast off.

The Council is now seeking to invite further works from established artists/ designers, with a proven track record of producing works for the public realm, to develop innovative temporary artworks for the façade and/or rooftop of this street gallery.  The art works will be presented as a rolling programme for the next 18 months.
