The planning application for the proposed new cinema development on the Arcade site in Walthamstow Town Centre has now been received.
The detailed application is for a new nine screen cinema with approximately 1,200 seats, accompanied by new restaurants and commercial premises on the ground floor. The proposal includes the provision of 121 residential units to include 50 affordable homes for rental and shared ownership, aimed at local people and first time buyers.
It is predicted that the development will provide over 100 new jobs, with Empire Cinemas alone offering seven management positions and around 28 staff positions, which would rise to 50 during peak seasons.
The application is expected to be considered at a planning meeting in the New Year.
