Snow Angels

“We urge the residents of Waltham Forest to join ranks with Snow Angels all over the borough!”

Waltham Forest is committed to assisting residents that are community minded and that want to help the vulnerable members of the community get on with their day to day activities without any dangers when the snow and ice hits.

Help us to keep your neighbourhood moving during times of extreme weather conditions by becoming a Snow Angel.

Snow Angels are local residents who volunteer to clear snow and ice from the footways and pathways in their local area. As a Snow Angel, your help will be invaluable in assisting the Council with their winter gritting and snow clearance operations, especially in those hard to reach places.

All Snow Angels will receive:

  • 20kg bag of grit
  • A branded hi-visibility vest
  • Protective gloves
  • Snow scoop or plastic shovel

The Snow Code

The Government through the Department for Transport have clarified that There's no law stopping you from clearing snow and ice on the pavement outside your home or from public spaces. It's unlikely you'll be sued or held legally responsible for any injuries on the path if you have cleared it carefully. Follow the snow code clearing snow and ice safely.”

More information about the Snow Code can be found here.
